MAPLE CORNHOLE BOARDS

Design
Step 1:
Client wanted a solid maple frame with 3/4" maple plywood board tops.
On the board tops, the client wanted a custom, laser-engraved, design that matched on each board.
All the challenges of a wood project and a laser-engraving project, combined.
Frame Build
Step 2:
Once the design was approved, we began milling out solid maple frames to ensure no-bounce play, and 1/4" overhang on all sides.
Pocket holes were drilled to attach the top to the frame

Laser Design
Step 3:
After we squared up the maple plywood tops to size, it was time to match all 4 tops with the same design.
The trick was to ensure all 4 event logos and group logo were in the exact same position - usually not difficult if the object fits within the bed of the laser. Unfortunately the maple tops were larger than the bed meaning we had to make our laser mobile and physically position the laser for each logo.

Assemble and Surface
Step 4:
Square up the tops to the frames and attach. Once assemble we made small adjustments to the legs to ensure there was no wobble.
Upon speaking wit the client, we knew that they wanted a mid-slide rating for their boards. This meant that once the polyurethane layers were poured, they needed to be buffed to around 600 grit.
